Pacific Northwest: No Clothesline Emergency For You!

This picture was just taken from my backyard here in the Pacific Northwest...yes, and that is the sun, glorious sun! We have had an inordinate amount of sunny weather here with, I think, only about one day of rain in the past two months. Highly unusual for this dank, damp climate!

This has lent itself to perfect drying conditions; low humidity and gentle breezes dry the laundry in about 2 hours. So, unlike those in the Northeast who are suffering from a 'Clothesline Emergency', we Northwesterners have NO excuses!

In fact, I feel that a "Clothesline Mandatory" proclamation should be issued. Get those clothes on the line while the weather is good...we know it won't last forever!

I live in Seattle and start hanging the clothes outside as soon as the weather allows. I schedule laundry around the weather—especially the whites. This year ha been great for the clothesline—not so much for the garden.

Yes, Solvay - hasn't this weather been incredible? I loved the low humidity too. Now we're back to cool and gray for a few days...soon back to sun though. :-D

I LOVE this idea of hanging clothes out and I too am delighted at the warm weather - perfect for hanging out towels and linens. Did you all see the piece on "Sunday Morning" today? It was great! And that neighbor - what a global warming grinch! Carry on ---> ooutdoor dryers!

You are right - this season has been incredible for hanging clothes outside. It's not just a right, it's a joy.

Best to you,

Well the past few days have been frighteningly soggy in Seattle. Today I have my laundry hung out and I'm keeping a close eye on the looming dark gray clouds overhead, lest I have to sprint out and collect the clothes if it starts pouring again!

Colleen - wasn't that CBS piece terrific? Hahaha..."global warming grinch"...how true! :-P

Lydia - I love that statement: "It's not just a right, it's a joy." That pretty much sums up my feelings too. :-)
