A laundry story
I took a moonlighting job at a local nursing home and when I was interviewing I noticed that they had a big laundry line and many of the sheets, towel and residents clothes were hanging on the line. I was so excited! I said something during my interview about how great it was they were so ecologically forward thinking that they used a clothes line and how great that was. After I started someone else told me the dryer was broken and they were waiting for a part. Too bad!

What changes?
What actually turns something from portraying the poor to being chic and "in"? I was watching "How It's Made" last night (rerun?) and one section was about hardwood floors. The announcer started by saying that at one point in time if you had hardwood floors you were considered poor because you couldn't afford carpet. Now it is the thing to have. When is that one moment in time when hanging laundry will go from being considered poor to being considered chic? What will be the turning point and how can we help make it happen?

Will there be a clothesline in the White House?
The Presidential Election settled, we now know that Barack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States on January 20, 2009. Will the next First Family adorn the lawn with a clothesline or buy an indoor rack for the East Wing? Should they? Share your thoughts with readers of The Clothes Peg...
